MY FAVOURITE ISLAND

I have lived in Thailand for the past 12 years and I am often asked what are my favorite Thai islands. My answer often surprises people but the truth is, my favorite island is Bali, and my favorite place in Bali is Ubud. Let me tell you why.

Bali is a gem among thousands of other islands in the Indonesian archipelago. Its cultural history sets it apart, giving it a mystical richness that few other places in the world can equal. Bali has been inhabited for at least 4,000 years, and Balinese culture was strongly influenced by Indian, Chinese, and particularly Hindu culture, beginning around the 1st century AD.

The Hindu Majapahit Empire on eastern Java founded a Balinese colony in 1343. When the empire declined, there was an exodus of intellectuals, artists, priests, and musicians from Java to Bali in the 15th century. It was these people who set the foundation for the amazing cultural and religious tradition you can still observe today. This deep history means that every visit to Bali holds something new for me, a continual learning experience that brings more joy and wonder to life.

Then there are the tropical forested mountains filled with waterfalls, exotic birds and butterflies, and the legendary beaches with blue waters, fantastic diving and incredible surfing. In few other places can you climb a volcano to watch the sun rise and later snorkel among schools of tropical fish in the afternoon.

Set in the lush mountains among green rice fields, but less than an hour drive from amazing beaches, Ubud is the perfect place to spend my Bali vacation time. I also love the abundant dining options and wide variety of yoga studios in Ubud. The astounding choice of Ubud villas makes each visit exciting and new. There are hundreds of villas in Ubud to choose from, ranging from budge-friendly hideaways, to luxury 5-star Ubud villas fit for A-list celebrities and splurging honeymooners.

Some people return again and again to their favorite Ubud villa, while others try a new villa on each visit. Either way, the combination of a unique culture, a stunning natural environment and the excellent options for Ubud accommodation, make it the perfect place to spend a few days or even a few weeks.

Typically my Ubud Bali days begin with gentle sunshine and bird song, followed by a couple hours of yoga practice, a delicious and healthy lunch, a massage in the afternoon, and then a sunset drink at my Ubud villas. Sounds pretty nice, right? This is what makes me to look forward to every visit. Perhaps I will see you there someday!

A VARIETY OF INTERESTING CREATURES CAN BE SEEN AT UBDH VILLAS

Another cool thing about Villas in Ubud is the wide variety of interesting animals one can see while on vacation. There is no doubt that in a tropical climate like Bali, the number of critters of all shapes and sizes is significant. The fun thing is that many of these are the kind of thing we would not normally see in our everyday lives, especially for city dwellers. This can be an exciting and fascinating lesson about ecology in a unique and exotic part of the world. Indonesia is very bio-diverse with a number of difference climates that feature a variety of curious creatures.

Some basic ones you might see at Ubud villas like Villa Amrita are a wide array of different types of frogs. Some big, some small and some tiny, Bali’s frogs also make/emit a surprising variety of sounds. It is particularly extraordinary how big a sound can come from such a small animal. It is also incredible (and also very cute) to see a frog that is really, really tiny like in the picture here.

At one time, fire flies were practically ubiquitous in Bali. Now, one only tends to see these fantastic flying insects in cool, remote and undisturbed portions of the island. Villa Amrita is one Ubud Accommodation where you can see them almost every day of the year. In the evening, while in the pool or hanging out on the balcony, one can see the little flickers of light in the canopy of the trees in front or out hovering over the rice fields. What a cool treat!

There are many creepy crawlies, lizards, spiders and other insects. Butterflies are also very common. We have never seen a snake, but we imagine they do exist somewhere. There are many bats in our area and they can be seen around dusk each night swooping in and out of the trees and over the pool snatching insects with their sensitive sonar capability.

There are plenty of chickens, cute ducks and other exotic birds, including some eagles, king fisher and much more. Monkey, dogs, cows, pigs and even elephants are no doubt some of the most prominent larger animals that visitors might see.

Ubud Villas are a very nice place to observe a bit of nature in a comfortable and convenient location. If you want to make some special memories try to book your stay at Villa Amrita.

A DAY AT THE ZOO

For some people, when traveling to a new location visiting a zoo is a top priority. Others may be indifferent, have no experience or even dislike them. The interesting thing about Bali’s zoo is that it is quite good quality, very beautiful and operated professionally.

I would like to recommend to our guests a visit to the zoo. You don’t need but a couple hours. The zoo is not big, but it is lovely and very interesting. The variety of animals is great and the location looked after nicely. The environment is lush and attractive. The staff are kind, passionate and enthusiastic.

The entry ticket only costs $24. This is not cheap, but it is definitely worth it. The memories and experiences you take away will surely be unforgettable. The zoo has lions which you can observe up close through a glass barrier. There are big, health Bengal and Sumatran tigers. Crocodiles, assorted monkeys, amazing birds and many elephants are all here.

The zoo is close to Ubud. You can be there from Villa Amrita in less than 30 minutes. It is the prefect outing for a group that has a short time or only wishes to do something for a couple hours and then return to the comfort of their Ubud Villas. You can see and photograph a baby lion, feed elephant and there is even a petting zoo.

The entire area is very clean, the animals are treated very humanely and the park is operated with heart and care. I had not visited the Bali Zoo until recently and I was pleasantly surprised and how good it was. Sometimes people choose to give a zoo a miss. This is a mistake if you are in Bali. The animals are fascinating, health and you can observe them from really close. There are better zoos, but only in their grandiosity.

The Bali Zoo is a great place to visit for a couple hours or a half day. You can also go to the Bali Bird Park which is not far away either. Places like Celuk, Batubulan and Sukawati market are all quite close. You could make a visit part of a whole day of venturing nearby Ubud. The zoo has a nice place to eat and plenty of shady places to sit down.

The incredible draw of Bali is the ability to see and do so much incredibly interesting stuff so conveniently and affordably. All kinds of water sports, climbing, rafting, jumping, flying and everything else you can think of are available. A variety of animal experiences are easy to access. Shopping, dining, dancing and simply sunbathing in Bali are all top notch.

Ubud Accommodation like Villa Amrita can offer you a great place to stay, that is affordable, valuable and unforgettable. Villa in Ubud like Villa Amrita are hard to come by. We suggest you stay with us for at least 4 days to get the right experience.

THE BEAUTY OF STAYING IN UBUD

The beauty of staying in Ubud is the rich culture and lush, natural environment. You could go to many places and see a bit of culture, but you may lack a lush, natural environment. On that same token, if you wanted a lush, natural environment you may be miles away from anything that could be considered cultural.

In addition to this, Ubud has a remarkable variety of cool things to see and fun things to do. There is a lot of different shopping, mostly in boutiques, or for art, crafts, and other creations. Ubud has some of the best dance performances and cultural shows. There are many museums, temples and a palace. You can also take great cooking, carving, offering making, jewelry making and other types of interesting classes.

Ubud is special because you can do so much, see so much and eat so much great food all while in a fantastically beautiful atmosphere and in a super high quality, completely equipped luxury home.

In a short drive you could see elephants, tigers, orangutan or monkeys. Alternatively, you could book a once-in-a-lifetime spa experience or havea special meal like never before. In your spare time it is easy to visit with and learn about a fascinating culture that exists nowhere else on the planet.

Villas in Ubud are exceptional because they are positioned in unbelievable locations, such as on the side of a valley, at the end of a cliff or overlooking a river. These places are what make Ubud special.

Villa Amrita is in a place like this. The garden is big and open with a wonderful variety of great flowers, fruits and trees. The infinity pool drops off into a beautiful forest, multi-level rice terraces and a lotus pond. At night marvel at the starry sky, big, bright moon or the many fire flies flitting among the trees.

Staying in other places you may briefly meet interesting people, but you may not get to know who they are or anything about them. At Ubud villas, you can share experiences with people who are charming and very different from yourself.

Each morning you are greeted by the smiley faces of the people who have made it their job to create the ultimate vacation environment. Each night your bed is turned down by someone who wishes you a peaceful nights’ sleep. Kind, skilled, thoughtful people who know how to please you and respond to your needs are found at Villa Amrita.

Finding nice, reasonably priced villas in Ubud is not so hard. There are many decent accommodations scattered about the surrounding area, all offering a bed, private garden, maybe a breakfast and perhaps a small swimming pool. The real difference is in the care the owner takes, the mindfulness of the staff, the quality and quantity of the fixtures, bedding and facilities as well as the size and quality of the location.

Having spent a lot of time in Bali and around Ubud in particular, we know what makes a special vacation experience. If all things are considered equal, then the differences that makes Ubudvillasspecial is the location, ability to truly relax, the level of service and the access to convenience.

In fact, Bali is home to a wide variety of different kinds of accommodation from big resorts to chain hotels and many styles of boutique and specialty lodging.

The problem is that often this abundance of choice has led to a less than optimum vacation experience for many. The high concentration and dense arrangement of accommodation options in the south of the Island have led to a lot of very similar, and uninspiring, hotels. It has become hard to find a place that is unique, interesting and that can really stand out. Visitors are always looking for something that is truly memorable.

This is why villas in Ubud are such a wonderful option when vacationing in Bali. Ubud represents some of the best that Bali has to offer. Just a short distance to the water sports, diving and fishing capital of Sanur, one can make a day trip to virtually every popular tourism venue on the entire island. With a fresh, cool climate and beautiful, natural surroundings, not to mention a wonderful selection of fun things to do, shops and great restaurants, Ubud is perfect as a base while staying in Bali.

In fact, a completely equipped luxury tropical home like Villa Amrita is one of the best places to spend your time while in Bali. Close to the many attractions in central Ubud Villa Amrita was built to a high standard and offers all of the amenities and facilities a discerning traveler could wish for. Here you can appreciate first-hand the beautiful, rural scenery and get the opportunity to interact closely with the local people while enjoying total luxury.

Far from the stuffy, sterile and regimented experience one finds at so many hotels across Bali, villas in Ubud offer the comforts of home, attentive service and close proximity to all that the island has to offer. At Villa Amrita, guests can have, do or be anything they want. Intimacy, entertainment, resource and everything in between are available at Villa Amrita.

At roughly $100 per person per night, Villa Amrita offers an incredible, unforgettable and high quality environment with all the perks and benefits found in the best hotels in the world at an affordable price point that represents great value. Convenience, service, comfort and, most importantly, the beauty and satisfaction of a truly genuine Bali “experience” is what makes Villa Amrita one of the best places to stay in Bali.

There is a lot of different kinds and styles of Ubud accommodation, but few can match the quality and value of Villa Amrita. Visit our site http://www.villaamrita.com for more info on villa accommodation.
