Exceptional luxury villa in Ubud Bali in Indonesia

One of the greatest aspects of building an exceptional luxury villa in Ubud, Bali, Indonesia is the wonderful and convenient access to a massive variety of high quality international cuisine. You can find dishes from just about everywhere on Earth with fabulous examples of Italian, Thai, Indian, Japanese, Mexican, American and French cooking readily available. You can find great food in a lot of big cities, but Bali is surprising, and Ubud in particularly, in that it offers some of the tastiest and most varied dining in Asia.

Realizing that fantastic natural beauty, quiet, comfort and luxury are only part of the equation that makes an Ubud, Bali villa attractive and successful, Villa Amrita has continued to up-its-game with improvements to its culinary offerings. In addition to a lovely, little menu of classic Balinese and Indonesian foods such as fried rice, noodles, slow-roasted duck and broiled pork we have decided to add a proper gas BBQ grill.
Villa Amrita has purchased a brand new, high quality western-standard gas grill to provide a new element of culinary option to our guests. The choice to use our gas barbecue grill is something that has been welcomed and received with great pleasure and excitement. There are endless combinations of yummy foods we can create with such a device. American and Australians might indulge in steaks, whilst our European and Asian guests may opt for grilled fish, calamari and prawn.

What’s more, the close proximity of the fully-stocked international standard Bintang supermarket just 8 to 10 minutes’ drive from Villa Amrita, gives our guests many great options for lunch and dinner. Nice filet mignon, rib-eye and other fresh meats are available. Cooking up a great big beef burger with cheddar cheese and fresh, organic lettuce and tomato on multi-grain buns would be a perfect evening in while playing in the pool and listening to music under the stars.

A trip to the Bintang supermarket is great to get munchies, alcohol, meats, veggies, fruits, cheeses and much more at reasonable prices. Bring your take back to Villa Amrita and indulge yourself.

Grabbing some salmon steak from nearby fresh fish supplier Sakanaya is also an attractive choice. Shrimp, lobster, crab, squid and more are all just within a short drive. The addition of a proper gas BBQ grill allows Villa Amrita to offer something other Ubud accommodation may or may not be able to match. The flexibility, low cost and ease of fixing a barbecue meal is something that makes Amrita an exceptional villa in Bali.

On a snorkeling outing at a nearby white sand beach in the turquoise waters  of Padang Bai, guests can pick up a cheap tuna fish freshly caught by local fisherman. Upon return to Villa Amrita, our chefs can create a lovely basting sauce, with lemon, garlic and chili to make the fish come out great! Combine this tasty meal with one-of-a-kind ice cold Bintang beer (made by Heineken) or a gin and tonic and you will create an unforgettable vacation evening.

No matter where in Bali your luxury villa is at, access to  nice, cheap food while on vacation is something that we cannot be without. A Bali resort would not be able to provide you with something as savory and satisfying as having your own chef and BBQ grill at your beck and call. Villa Amrita is looking to raise the bar among Ubud accommodation to create lasting memories for a loyal following of discerning, repeat guests.

Bali Villas - Villa Amrita Extraordinary Ubud Villas

It has been less than 6 months since Villa Amrita formally opened for business and it has been a really exciting, interesting and fun process. I think it would be fair to say that managing our dream accommodation is also a lot of work. One might call it a labour of love. The fact is, there is a lot to consider and a lot to learn.

The quite warm reception we have had so far from our guests has been encouraging. We knew the land and the design were going to be special, but we never knew exactly what Villa Amrita had the potential to become. Through a lot of research, learning and discovery about Bali, Ubud and the visitors coming here we have discovered that Villa Amrita is a truly unique property in Ubud.

We have explored the entire area around Ubud and have seen and toured a plethora of hotels, including villas and other styles and levels of accommodation. We now know that Villa Amrita is one-of-a-kind and nearly in a class by itself. If we had not taken the time to explore this market we would not know that one, three-bedroom villas in Ubud are a fairly limited product and, two, that Villa Amrita is definitely one of the best-of-breed in this area.

When first building Villa Amrita we spared no cost and had envisioned something done to a standard that would even surpass or impress our own eye for quality and comfort. The location is close enough to Ubud to have easy access to the fine restaurants, shops and entertainment there, yet far enough away to enjoy the utter peace and freshness of the lovely rural community that is just a short drive, but, seemingly, a world away.

Villa Amrita - The Little Things 2

As we noted last time, it is really the little things that make all the difference. It usually takes a long time to build a reputation and a brand. If it were quick then not only would everyone be involved, but certain things in life would be less valuable, interesting or fun. Villa Amrita is just one of many villas in Ubud, Bali, but we strive to make a difference. We try to be mindful so that our appreciation, love and passion for our guests, Bali and its people shines through.

Guests have come to expect the most when booking Ubud villas. They know the architecture, design, materials, staff and the natural environment are all likely to be top notch. The area is blessed by nature and the people show that character. There is much to experience, see, do, learn and accomplish while on vacation in Ubud, even if that “accomplishment” is simply relaxing, reading a book or eating a lot of good food! Villa Amrita will always try to maintain an environment that gives guests all the things they might need or want while visiting.

So as a thoughtful and professional accommodation in Ubud, Villa Amrita has installed a CCTV system (closed-circuit) to always ensure the highest level of security. This allows us to record and monitor the perimeter of the villa. This means that we can always know who comes in, how and when. We only preemptively install these cameras because we know that security is always very important to all people.

Secondly, we have purchased top of the line in-room safes for each bedroom. You can see a picture attached to this article. We replaced our previous safes because they could only operate on a key and were difficult to use. They were also small. The bottom line is that the new safety boxes provide the level of comfort, ease of use and peace of mind that guests coming to Villa Amrita wish for and desire. These safes are very strong, can be audited for security, can accommodate a 15 inch laptop and have the option of being operated with the guests’ physical credit card instead of a PIN code. They are the kind that one sees in the best hotels in the world.

We hope that everyone always has the best time at Villa Amrita, Ubud, Bali.

Villa Amrita: Dining in Ubud

There are many great things about staying at Villa Amrita for your Bali vacation. The lovely rural atmosphere, beautiful scenery, comfortable living area, soft beds and gracious, caring staff are all nice reasons to make Villa Amrita your choice while in Bali.

Remarkably, most people who come here don’t realize Ubud is full of incredible food. Apart from a big city, I don’t think there is anywhere with more variety of high quality foods from all over the world than in Ubud. Of course, we all know Seminyak is also a wonderful mecca of great food, but Ubud has numerous uncovered, underrated and incredibly tasty choices running the entire gamut.

While some restaurants are so popular they do require reservations, most are open and available at any time. Keep in mind that some restaurants do close at 10pm so it is advisable to give them a quick call before you go if arriving somewhat later in the evening. Just let Made Taro Wardita or WayanSudanaknow where you would like to go and they will prepare everything. A ten minute drive and you are in a veritable food mecca!

We have compiled some nice pictures (we hope) of some nice dining options in Ubud here.

A Variety of Interesting Creatures Can Be Seen At Ubud Villas

Another cool thing about villas in Ubud is the wide variety of interesting animals one can see while on vacation. There is no doubt that in a tropical climate like Bali, the number of critters of all shapes and sizes is significant. The fun thing is that many of these are the kind of thing we would not normally see in our everyday lives, especially for city dwellers. This can be an exciting and fascinating lesson about ecology in a unique and exotic part of the world. Indonesia is very bio-diverse with a number of difference climates that feature a variety of curious creatures.

Some basic ones you might see at Ubud villas like Villa Amrita are a wide array of different types of frogs. Some big, some small and some tiny, Bali’s frogs also make/emit a surprising variety of sounds. It is particularly extraordinary how big a sound can come from such a small animal. It is also incredible (and also very cute) to see a frog that is really, really tiny like in the picture here.

At one time, fire flies were practically ubiquitous in Bali. Now, one only tends to see these fantastic flying insects in cool, remote and undisturbed portions of the island. Villa Amrita is one Ubud accommodation where you can see them almost every day of the year. In the evening, while in the pool or hanging out on the balcony, one can see the little flickers of light in the canopy of the trees in front or out hovering over the rice fields. What a cool treat!

There are many creepy crawlies, lizards, spiders and other insects. Butterflies are also very common. We have never seen a snake, but we imagine they do exist somewhere. There are many bats in our area and they can be seen around dusk each night swooping in and out of the trees and over the pool snatching insects with their sensitive sonar capability.

There are plenty of chickens, cute ducks and other exotic birds, including some eagles, king fisher and much more. Monkey, dogs, cows, pigs and even elephants are no doubt some of the most prominent larger animals that visitors might see.

Ubud villas are a very nice place to observe a bit of nature in a comfortable and convenient location. If you want to make some special memories try to book your stay at Villa Amrita.

Ubud Villas Offer Value for Money

Having developed over time to become one of the best holiday locations in Asia, Bali is well known for good weather, a friendly culture, beautiful scenery and plenty of delicious food and great places to stay. In fact, Bali is home to a wide variety of different kinds of accommodation from big resorts to chain hotels and many styles of boutique and specialty lodging.

The problem is that often this abundance of choice has led to a less than optimum vacation experience for many. The high concentration and dense arrangement of accommodation options in the south of the Island have led to a lot of very similar, and uninspiring, hotels. It has become hard to find a place that is unique, interesting and that can really stand out. Visitors are always looking for something that is truly memorable.

This is why villas in Ubud are such a wonderful option when vacationing in Bali. Ubud represents some of the best that Bali has to offer. Just a short distance to the water sports, diving and fishing capital of Sanur, one can make a day trip to virtually every popular tourism venue on the entire island. With a fresh, cool climate and beautiful, natural surroundings, not to mention a wonderful selection of fun things to do, shops and great restaurants, Ubud is perfect as a base while staying in Bali.

In fact, a completely equipped luxury tropical home like Villa Amrita is one of the best places to spend your time while in Bali. Close to the many attractions in central Ubud, Villa Amrita was built to a high standard and offers all of the amenities and facilities a discerning traveler could wish for. Here you can appreciate first-hand the beautiful, rural scenery and get the opportunity to interact closely with the local people while enjoying total luxury.

Far from the stuffy, sterile and regimented experience one finds at so many hotels across Bali, villas in Ubud offer the comforts of home, attentive service and close proximity to all that the island has to offer. At Villa Amrita, guests can have, do or be anything they want. Intimacy, entertainment, resource and everything in between are available at Villa Amrita.

At roughly $100 per person per night, Villa Amrita offers an incredible, unforgettable and high quality environment with all the perks and benefits found in the best hotels in the world at an affordable price point that represents great value. Convenience, service, comfort and, most importantly, the beauty and satisfaction of a truly genuine Bali “experience” is what makes Villa Amrita one of the best places to stay in Bali.

There is a lot of different kinds and styles of Ubud accommodation, but few can match the quality and value of Villa Amrita.

Villa Amrita Always Working Hard to Do the Best for Guest Comfort, Safety and Style

Villa Amrita tries its best to create the best possible environment for guests. Ubud villas come in all shapes and sizes, but not all strive to do the very best in every case. We believe it is important to make our home comfortable, safe and stylish. We feel that if we cannot offer something extraordinary then we are not doing our job.

Ubud accommodation is legendary for beautiful views, gracious staff and luxury designs, but some key details often get overlooked. It is difficult to find a really great location to build a sensational tropical home, but once you find the right place it is important and necessary (in our view) to keep it in top shape.

Recently, during the stay of one of our esteemed guests the power went down. This is very rare in Keliki and we have almost no memory of power outages in the past 1.5 years. Perhaps we have only seen the electricity stop once or twice for less than an hour in nearly two years time. We have been blessed and fortunate for such luck. Still, our guests were about to enjoy their evening meal in our dining room, but suddenly, there was no power.

We had plenty of candles, flashlights and emergency batteries ready, but still the family had to eat in relative darkness. This was very distressing to us and the guests. Therefore, we vowed to not let this happen again. The next day we went immediately to Gianyar and purchased a brand new 9000 watt generator and hooked up to our power grid. Now, if the power ever goes down again all we have to do is flip a switch and the power is back!

Not all villas in Ubud have all the amenities everyone needs or wants. Our view is that if we can possibly find or afford it then we can purchase and provide it to our guests. Whatever is needed or wanted at our villa we will try to make sure it is available. The generator is an oversight that should have been in place since day one. Now it is installed and ready.

We know that in the rare event that the power fails again (which it inevitably will) Villa Amrita will be ready. Our guests can enjoy hot water, television and lights to have fun and to carry on with their precious holiday!

Thank you to our lovely staff and to all the great guests who have supported us. We appreciate you very much!

FINDING YOUR RHYTHM AT VILLA AMRITA

Many of us lead hectic lives. We work hard and have bosses who are seldom satisfied.  Family obligations can be overwhelming.  The 24-hour news cycle and social media can drown us in information.  We don’t think as clearly and as deeply as we would like and should. We sleep too little and not very well. The press and stress can lead us to make poor food choices and skip exercise.  This unfortunate rhythm is not sustainable.  We begin to break down, and so we need and deserve a real break. This is of course what vacations are all about. Sadly, most of us rarely get more than a few days away. That is why it is so important to make the best of your few precious days at Villa Amrita.  It can be hard to quickly and truly break from your daily habits and worries; to settle in to a calmer and more beautiful mental and physical space. But it is possible, here’s how.

First resolve to break completely from work. Do not let it follow you inside Villa Amrita! Don’t worry, it will all be waiting for you when you return. And if you return rested, invigorated andview from dhanya balcon happy, you will work better. Turn off the phone and work email. Do not take conference calls. Next, fully embrace your new environment. The sights, smells and sounds. You will see deeper greens, bluer blues, and brighter oranges and yellows than you are probably used to.  Draw the colors in deeply.  You will not hear sirens and helicopters and trains.  You will hear running water over rice terraces, crickets chirping, cicadas humming, frogs croaking, and birds calling. These are healing, soothing sounds. Embrace them.  You will breathe clean air, savor exquisite flowers and amazing aromas. Bananas actually smell like sweet, fragrant bananas. Complex curries tease and mesmerize your taste buds.  Freshly ground coffee caresses your taste buds. Let these smells and sounds inside and make them part of your recovery.

Sleep.  Turn off the TV and sleep early and sleep long. Do not use an alarm clock or phone. Instead, let yourself awaken to natural sunlight and birdsong.  Don’t be afraid to take a nap in the afternoon. Enjoy the lounge chairs next to the beautiful swimming pool, or retreat to your room for a gentle snooze.

Get a massage. Every day. Villa Amrita has an excellent professional massage table and skilled masseurs on call. Ask our staff to put the massage table on your balcony, draw the shades and melt into relaxation.  The sound of running water and birdsong are sure to help your mind and muscles find balance and calm.

family with babyEat joyfully and thoughtfully. Eat whenever you are hungry- there is no need to be too worried about precise meal times here. Take delight in every meal and each snack. Eat only real food- nothing taken from a plastic wrapper, a microwave, or a fast food restaurant. Savor in our naturally ripened fruits, fresh rice, spicy Sambal and food prepared by loving hands.

Exercise. If you are not accustomed to daily exercise at home, then start slowly. Take long, slow walks. Soak in in the sites, smells and warmth of the nearby villages. Avoid the hottest hours of the day, between 11-3 pm. Instead, take a morning walk or step out just an hour before sunset. Our staff can point you in the right direction for a lovely jaunt.  If you would like to be a little more vigorous, try walking to the bottom of the stairs to the valley below Villa Amrita. The springs and gentle creek below are filled with beautiful light beams casting through the forest canopy. Butterflies fly gently and take sips of water. If you go early in the morning or later in the afternoon, you will see villagers carrying large bottles of drinking water on their heads.  Make sure to give them plenty of space and always offer a friendly smile.signature cocktail passionfruit margie

Read that book you have been putting off for so long. Now is the time to set aside time to indulge in that favorite author or masterful collection. Immerse yourself and let your imagination and creativity flow. Set aside the time for your new rhythm. It is all yours.

Finally, hold hands with the ones you love. The energy and joy we receive from our most important relationships make all the difference. Whether you are sharing Villa Amrita with a spouse, a lover, your parents or children, make sure that you are connected and that your rhythm here strengthens those bonds. So make sure as you walk and enjoy Villa Amrita and surroundings, your hand is always in the hand of someone you love.

In a few days, you will return to home and work.  But until then, resolve to set a new healing, restful rhythm at Villa Amrita. Your memories of this special place will sustain you far into the future.

NATURAL SPRING AT VILLA AMRITA

Did you know that there is an amazing, special place just below Villa Amrita. A sacred water spring! Just a two minute walk from the villa is a place you cannot imagine. A wonderful site you have never seen or experienced before. This is the only place the local people come to gather their fresh drinking and cooking water. It is very sacred and important. Guests can visit the spring and even safely drink from its water!

The best time to visit is during the day between noon and early evening. Once the sun prepares to set, many of the local people will come to the springs to bathe, wash and collect water. Make sure you give them their privacy! Otherwise, they are curious too. Enjoy them and the surroundings. It is a lovely place to see and feel. So fresh and beautiful. The water is filtered by the rock. It comes straight from pipes drilled into the rock. Here there is also an altar for offerings to God. Take your shoes and socks off and walk around. Make sure you get a photo too.

You can visit this special place even at night. It is even possible to see fireflies. Grab a torch/flashlight and walk down to the springs. Be careful of course, the path can be slippery. Not for the faint-hearted and always bring a friend!

SEEKING GREAT FOOD IN UBUD

There are a lot of great places to eat in Ubud. Some are well known, such as Café Wayan, Naughty Nuri’s, Mosaic, Bridges, Murni’s Warung, Ibu Oka, Casa Luna and Lotus Café. But, some of the best are still the least known. As we have mentioned in the past, one could eat in Ubud for months and easily never get bored or have to have the same thing.  Part of the Magic of Ubud is the prevalence of high quality food in little “holes in the wall”.

We all have our “secret spots”. Those tiny, hidden joints that serve up some of the best culinary treats one can find. It can be a number of things that make it special; the price, the location, the people and, of course, the taste. Whatever the reason, Ubud is full of places like this. There are so many great places to eat you tend to develop your favorites and often miss out on some very excellent options.

There are no less than four great, authentic Italian restaurants in Ubud, all with genuine Italians chefs. The sheer variety is incredible. Even in big cities, you seldom have this much choice and certainly not in such a small area. There is always good food when you go on vacation, but UAyam Bumbu Balibud sets the bar very high in this regard. There is nowhere else that I know of that offers as many options, much quality or better prices.

We are blessed to know of a delightful, little place that has so far remained relatively undiscovered by the tourist trail and is likely to stay that way for the time being.

Café Vespa in Penestanan, only 5 minutes by car from central Ubud, is one of these “hidden gems”. Most well known for its generous and high quality breakfasts, this charming café offers those-in-the-know a real treat. With fresh spring water on tap, professional-grade baking ovens and some of the best coffee in Ubud, Café Vespa is an exceptional choice for people who are not in a rush to enjoy a moment to relax, read the paper or chat with a newly-made friend.

Try the spinach, avocado, mushroom and feta with eggs on ciabatta or choose a homemade blueberry Danish with a freshly brewed long black with warm milk. Muesli, vegetables, dahl, quiche, pancakes and salad are all well done. Cakes, pastries and pies are a specialty of the professional bakery chef.

The casual seating, pillows, cushions and boutique decoration make the atmosphere homey, inviting guests to stay a while. Grab a book, recent newspaper or other literature to catch up on the scene in Ubud or just bring your “device” and surf the net on the free wireless. The close quarters and new-found popularity of this place make meeting new people easy and fun.

If you are staying at villa or hotel in Ubud you can catch a taxi here for just a couple dollars. You can even walk or ride a bike. The interesting traditional Balinese temple across the street makes the place feel genuine. Café Vespa seems like it is for local expatriates, but is just a short walk from the Four Seasons!
